iSpace Environments Practices What It Preaches with Carousel Digital Signage

Workplace furniture and technology dealership uses Carousel Cloud software in its showroom to demonstrate its user-friendly platform and the power of digital signage for communication

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, August 11, 2020 – iSpace Environments, a Minneapolis-based commercial furniture and technology dealership, is now using Carousel Digital Signage software to promote its services and amplify its message throughout its showroom as part of a technology upgrade and renovation.

A longtime Carousel Digital Signage reseller, iSpace provides furnishing and technology design and integration services to clients in the corporate, higher education, healthcare, and automobile retail sectors. As organizations re-open following the COVID-19 pandemic, iSpace is helping clients reconfigure their workspaces to comply with the new health and safety regulations. Their interior transformation adheresto these compliance standards and demonstrates how furniture and technology can create safe, comfortable work environments.

iSpace is now using Carousel Cloud software to communicate health and safety guidelines, welcome messaging, visitor information, and examples of how clients can apply digital signage to their own environments. All visual messaging is distributed to flat panel televisions and video walls throughout the building, leveraging Carousel Cloud’s interoperability with Apple TV devices to simplify and centralize media playout. iSpace’s AV experts demonstrate the software’s capabilities during tours, including multi-display support, Apple TV interoperability, and ease of use including simplified content creation and management.

“Showing the technology creates awareness of what AV technology offers for workplace design,” said Nate Pesch, Technology Sales Manager at iSpace Environments. “Our customers aren’t always aware of our technology-related products and services, and Carousel Cloud helps us communicate our competitive advantage.”

Pesch confirms that the digital signage content they show to visitors often opens the conversation to broader possibilities. “The Carousel content always looks visually impressive and provides an opportunity to share our expertise around technology integration,” he said. “We have many examples of becoming a one-stop shop for customers.”

Those conversations then lead to Carousel Cloud’s benefit in workspace communications. Carousel Cloud gives users the flexibility of being able to update content at any time and from anywhere – a benefit that Pesch says is increasingly critical during as business operations continue to change.

He also points to the cost-reducing benefits of Carousel Cloud, which eliminates the traditional expense of a standalone server infrastructure. Instead, Carousel Cloud software is deployed on the organization’s existing IT infrastructure and can use common Apple TV devices or industry-leading BrightSign media players (including the BSN.cloud platform) on the playout side.

“Carousel software is easy to learn, so an organization lacking in-house design resources can use built-in templates to create content,” said Pesch. “That’s important these days as many content managers are working from home. With Carousel Cloud, content managers can make changes remotely. We can also show how easy it is to use these templates across different aspect ratios, as we display the content on portrait screens, landscape screens, and video walls in our showroom and meeting spaces. It’s very powerful.”

iSpace Environments, which has remained open through the pandemic as an essential business, is seeing an increase in traffic as organizations consider how life in the workplace will change. With organizations across the globe updating facilities in accordance with new regulations, many customers are aiming to create environments that communicate how safety is their top priority.

“We’re helping people get back to business any way we can, whether it’s with screen dividers on desks, furniture reconfigurations, or digital signage to communicate the proper safety measures,” said Pesch. “Businesses and schools need to show that they’re thinking about safety, and digital signage is one way to communicate that they’re doing something about it. One organization’s safety protocol may different from another, but everybody wants to feel safe. Digital signage is one of the most effective ways to communicate these messages.”

Atlona Expands 4K HDMI Extender Portfolio with Debut of Avance Series

December 22, 2020

Five new HDBaseT transmitter/receiver kits combine reliable, cost-effective extension of 4K AV signals with integrator-friendly features including EDID filtering, clock stretching, and link testing

SAN JOSE, California, August 6, 2020Atlona, a Panduit company, has expanded its comprehensive array of HDMI extension solutions with the unveiling of its Avance™ Series of HDBaseT extender kits. Building on the core functionality of the company’s established UHD-EX family with additional integrator-friendly features, the new HDBaseT transmitter and receiver sets offer cost-effective and reliable solutions for extending 4K/UHD AV signals beyond the distance limitations of HDMI cabling.

Five Avance Series kits provide flexible installation options for commercial applications ranging from conference rooms and classrooms to extended-distance video distribution. Four transmit 4K/UHD 60Hz 4:2:0 video up to 130 feet (40 meters) or 1080p 60Hz video up to 230 feet (70 meters) over Category 6A/7 twisted pair cable, while the fifth transmits 4K 60Hz 4:2:0 video over longer distances up to 330 feet (100 meters).

The Avance Series lineup comprises:

  • AT-AVA-EX70-2PS-KIT – 40m 4K/UHD extender kit with locally powered transmitter and receiver
  • AT-AVA-EX70-KIT – 40m 4K/UHD extender kit with remote power, where the receiver is powered by the transmitter over HDBaseT
  • AT-AVA-EX70C-KIT – 40m 4K/UHD extender kit with remote power plus bi-directional extension of RS-232 and IR control signals
  • AT-AVA-EX70C-BP-KIT – 40m 4K/UHD extender kit with RS-232 and IR control, and bi-directional remote power allowing power to be supplied by either the transmitter or receiver
  • AT-AVA-EX100CE-BP-KIT – 100m 4K/UHD extender kit with ethernet, RS-232 and IR control, and bi-directional remote power

All Avance Series extender kits include robust features that bolster reliability and simplify deployment for integrators and installers. EDID filtering prevents extension of unsupported resolutions to increase the integrity of video transmission, while clock stretching improves interoperability with legacy and low-quality HDMI video sources. Integrated HDBaseT link test enables easy verification of cabling, termination, and link quality at the point of install.

A new feature with the Avance Series is bi-directional remote power, available on the AVA‑EX70C‑BP-KIT and AVA-EX100CE-BP-KIT. It enhances installation flexibility by providing a choice of whether the transmitter powers the receiver or vice versa. This allows the power supply to be located near either the source or the display, depending on available outlets.

The Avance Series joins other Atlona extension products including the UHD-EX series; the HDR-EX series for 4K/60 HDR applications; and the AT-OME-EX-KIT for extending both HDMI and USB.

“The Avance Series continues our tradition of offering a wide range of product choices that let customers pick exactly the right model for their project requirements and budget,” said David Shamir, Director of Product Management, Atlona. “The new EDID filtering, clock stretching, and link testing features also reflect our commitment to making systems integrators’ jobs easier by simplifying installation and ensuring maximum reliability.”

Three of the Avance Series kits (AT-AVA-EX70-2PS-KIT, AVA-EX70C-BP-KIT and AVA-EX100CE-BP-KIT) are available immediately through Atlona’s extensive network of authorized channel partners and include the company’s award-winning 10-year limited product warranty and support services. The remaining kits will be available in late August.

StreamGuys Amplifies Digital Media Strategy for Carolina Panthers

December 22, 2020

SaaS toolset and robust content delivery network help National Football League franchise create and deliver diverse podcasting lineup to fans worldwide

BAYSIDE, CALIFORNIA, August 5, 2020 — Pioneering SaaS-based streaming and podcast solutions provider StreamGuys continues to generate strong business with professional sports leagues and teams. The Carolina Panthers represent the latest sports franchise to leverage StreamGuys’ professional SaaS toolset and robust content delivery network, allowing them to flexibly create and deliver live and on-demand content to fans everywhere.

The professional football team has long embraced digital media and live streaming to diversify how they cover the organization. Takingnotice that an increasing number of sports clubs worldwide were self-producing innovative content, it wanted to be at forefront of that movement. In addition to live simulcasts of gameday radio broadcasts, the Panthers’ digital media and broadcast teams have viewed podcasting as an engaging way to connect with audiences.

“Podcasting has allowed us to strengthen our innovation and provide more content to our fans,” said David Langton, Executive Producer for Radio, Carolina Panthers. “At the same time, we can serve the needs of our sponsors through smart and compelling storytelling. We see this as a new generation of audio production and digital communication.”

Langton and his colleague, Matt Hogan, connected with StreamGuys to propel their digital media strategy forward. Familiar with StreamGuys’ work with the football league and other league teams, Langton and Hogan approached StreamGuys with the goal of differentiating their approach from their peers. “Their relationship with the league opened the door, but it was their willingness to innovate and be flexible that sealed the deal,” said Langton. “Their approach has helped us deliver our podcasts over multiple platforms, without any geographical constrictions. With every new request we make, the latest being a request to add Alexa skills, they quickly return with a solution that moves us forward.”

StreamGuys’ SGrecast software plays an instrumental role in quick and efficient podcast production for the team. The robust and efficient SaaS-based toolset automates the creation of podcasts, side channels and rebroadcasts, which makes Hogan’s front-end production work much quicker and simpler.

“The majority of my day is spent working with Adobe editing software, and StreamGuys takes over once the editing job is complete,” said Hogan, the Carolina Panthers’ Radio Production Associate. “I just need to upload the content to the SGrecast interface, and add titles and descriptions. I can also create shorter clips for social media through the video generator, which provides high-quality thumbnails of each scene. The processing is very quick, and it looks very professional upon delivery.”

StreamGuys automatically populates the podcasts to the Panthers website, as well as other podcasting platforms including Google Play, iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher. Hogan can also create video clips for use in future podcasts and save them within the SGrecast interface, which he compares to the simplicity of using a WordPress blog engine. The workflow not only accelerates the process of creating and publishing podcasts – it also allows Hogan to focus on other tasks throughout the workday.

“We produce 11 weekly podcasts, and their processes save me hours of production work each week,” said Hogan. “We don’t have to worry about having a hosting site, set up RSS feeds, or have coding background. They have helped us elevate our digital strategy without complicated workflows. There are only four or five franchises in the league producing as many podcasts as we are.”

The diversity of the Panthers’ podcasting content is a treat for fans, many of which are personality-driven podcasts that highlight former players, press conferences, gameday previews, and even more pop-culture-friendly podcasts around fantasy football and football-related entertainment. Langton adds that they also produced Spanish-language podcasts last season, and within all podcasts they are working in live reads of sponsor advertisements, which he explains as an organic way to monetize their efforts.

“We are looking at digital media as a universe with no boundaries, and StreamGuys is helping us reach the broadest digital audience possible,” said Langton. “They are allowing us to focus on innovative creation and pushing the limits on the front end, as opposed to being in the weeds with the technology. Our only challenge is to continue to find new opportunities to diversify and expand our programming into areas we haven’t yet touched.”
