Atlona Expands All-IP AV Distribution Applications at InfoComm

October 16, 2019
New products and demo zones, including a Zero UI (User Interface) Meeting Space, portrait-mode video wall support, and an all-new OmniStream wallplate encoder, provide live use cases for customers

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 28, 2019 – At the forthcoming InfoComm 2019 show, Atlona, a Panduit company, will unleash a series of new innovations that emphasize the benefits and value of IP networking and control in commercial AV. Anchored by key demonstrations featuring Atlona’s latest OmniStream (AV over IP) and Velocity (IP based AV control) solutions, Atlona will show how All-IP AV Distribution strategies empower complete and flexible configurations within meeting spaces, classrooms and other AV environments.

Video Wall Over IP

InfoComm marks the North American debut of OmniStream’s integrated processing functionality to enhance video wall performance. The embedded scaling, video processing and advanced video synchronization mechanisms in OmniStream decoders ensure precise synchronization of content between each decoder and corresponding display tile. The result is a single, cohesive image magnified across all displays.

New for InfoComm, OmniStream’s integrated video processing now supports 90⁰/270⁰ degrees image rotation which enables vertically-stacked video walls and portrait-mode which is common in digital signage applications. The enhancedfunctionality provides users with an easier and affordable solution to feed and manage content in retail, hospitality and campus environments where portrait-mode visuals captivate mobile audiences. Atlona will also unveil a hands-on demonstration where users will experience the drag-and-drop simplicity of using Velocity touch panels for portrait-modeand vertically-stacked video wall configurations.

Zero UI Meeting Space

Atlona continues to evolve its All-IP Meeting Space message with new Zero UI functionality that automates presentationswithout the need for manual switching via a user interface or control screen. The Zero UI Meeting Space utilizes Atlona’s OmniStream encoder grouping strategy to automatically switch between sources in the meeting space or classroom. Upon sensing the presence of a new signal, the system will seamlessly transition to the corresponding encoder, and switch off routing from the previous encoder.

The Zero UI Meeting Space will exhibit how several contributors can collaborate on a single presentation, leveraging BYOD capability or peripherals installed in the space. Atlona will connect three OmniStream single-channel encoders to three source devices (such as cameras or laptops) to demonstrate seamless, automatic ultra-fast switching.

A new wallplate version of Atlona’s OmniStream 111 (AT-OMNI-111) encoder, the AT-OMNI-111-WP, will debut at InfoComm and feature in the demonstration. The AT-OMNI-111-WP brings together the same features and functionality of the AT-OMNI-111 into a compact, US two-gang wallplate, including 4K/UHD @ 60Hz and full HDR support, robust network error resilience, and standard IEEE 802.3af PoE powering. The US two-gang enclosure for Decora®-style wallplate makes the AT-OMNI-111-WP ideal for installation in floor boxes, lecterns, and divisible rooms providing even more signal routing flexibility.

Any-to-Any Routing

Atlona will also evolve its message of speed and flexibility for AV over IP systems design and integration, with an emphasis on quick “any-to-any” routing of multimedia sources in the All-IP Meeting Space. This includes low-latency routing and distribution of video, audio and USB traffic between many sources and distributions, and with seamless interoperabilitydue to Atlona’s rigorous compatibility tests with third-party solutions.

Atlona’s new fast switching feature plays an important role in Atlona’s “any-to-any routing” strategy by substantially accelerates switching time for sources. With switching time reduced to less than 10 milliseconds, Atlona’s fast switching innovation outperforms competitive products for switching speed across packet-based AV systems.

In addition to OmniStream encoders and decoders, the demonstration will include Atlona’s complete range of network-switchable OmniStream USB over IP device adapters (AT-OMNI-311, AT-OMNI-324), and AT-HDVS-CAM USB PTZ camera.

“Our latest OmniStream and Velocity innovations amplify the value proposition of transitioning to an All-over-IP strategy with Atlona thanks to a robust, reliable and feature-rich toolset that supports complete room configurations,” said Gregory Mirsky, Product Manager, Networked AV, Atlona. “We continue to solve problems and simplify design and functionality for our global network of partners, systems integrators and end users as the industry continues its aggressive transition to IP networks and topologies.”

Atlona will exhibit at Booth 3012 at InfoComm 2019, taking place June 12-14 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Cablecast Bringing Easy Online and OTT Video Publishing to AV Users at InfoComm 2019

October 16, 2019

Automated, turnkey solution helps educational, worship, corporate and government media producers efficiently publish VOD libraries and live streams in attractive, branded content portals

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, MAY 23, 2019Cablecast Community Media is heading to InfoComm 2019 with an efficient new solution that lets video producers easily build a library of VOD and live-streaming content, and presents it attractively in controlled, customizable interfaces for online or OTT viewing. Cablecast will demonstrate the automated and intuitive offering in the booth (number 333) of fellow Tightrope Media Systems division Carousel Digital Signage at the event, taking place June 12-14 in Orlando, Florida.

The Cablecast platform’s streamlined, automated publishing workflows enable users in educational institutions, houses of worship, government agencies, corporations and non-profit organizations to easily bring video-on-demand (VOD) programming and live streams to audiences across an expanding array of viewing devices. Users can customize Cablecast’s professionally-styled, pre-built website and OTT app templates with their own logo, color scheme and content categories to quickly launch full-featured, branded content portals on the web, Apple TV® and Roku® devices. A comprehensive API is also available for customers wishing to tightly integrate Cablecast’s video presentation features within their existing website.

Adding new VOD content to the library is exceptionally simple. Authorized contributors can upload video files from anywhere through Cablecast’s web-based interface. Users can associate metadata with each clip during the upload process or after-the-fact, and can select amongst multiple frames from the video or upload a thumbnail image to represent the clip in the library. Cablecast automatically takes care of the rest, transcoding the source file as necessary for streaming and OTT delivery; dynamically updating the categorized libraries based on previously-defined metadata criteria; and publishing the clips to the public-facing website and OTT apps.

Further improving the viewer experience, VOD chapter markers can be added to pre-recorded clips or in real-time during live capture, enabling viewers to jump directly to points of interest – such as agenda topics in government meetings, or scoring plays in sports matches – without scrubbing through the entire video. Supporting documents can also be associated with VOD clips, enabling viewers to read or download related materials such as meeting minutes or lecture notes while watching the video.

Augmenting customers’ VOD offerings, Cablecast’s optional live streaming support enables users to stream programs and events in real time through the same web portal and OTT apps. Live and on-demand OTT content are delivered to viewers via the cloud-based Cablecast Reflect streaming service, while online content can be distributed through Cablecast Reflect to minimize local network bandwidth impact or using the customer’s own hosting infrastructure.

Cablecast’s content presentation environment gives publishers far more control of their viewers’ experience than is available with popularweb-based or social media distribution platforms. Unlike such free services, Cablecast does not insert advertising in front of videos, nor suggest third-party content afterwards. This ensures that customers’ programming is not shown alongside any unrelated, inappropriate, competitive, or – particularly noteworthy for public sector producers – commercial content.

“As the volume of live and on-demand video content being created by educational, government, corporate and worship media producers continues to explode, they need efficient tools to distribute it to viewers’ preferred devices while maintaining control of the presentation around their brand,” said Steve Israelsky, President, Cablecast Community Media. “Cablecast’s turnkey online and OTT templates save customers time and help them create a professional look, while our automated publishing workflows reduce turnaround time and minimize manual effort. Our latest offerings build on our more than two decades of experience in helping community media providers and content producers stay ahead of evolving trends in media consumption, and we’re excited to showcase them to InfoComm attendees.”
